Our field trials take place at the agricultural research stations of the University of Hohenheim, which are equipped with machinery and devices required for field trials. Furthermore, for some of our projects, we have access to field data which is collected in field trials at different locations where our international partners are located. We investigate different cropping systems, effect of fertilization and irrigation systems on yield and quality of various crops.
Regarding our indoor crop production systems, we use the greenhouse facilities and climate chambers of the University of Hohenheim while through our joined projects we have access to data collected from the indoor crop production facilities of our academic or industrial partners.
In addition, various analyses are carried out in our laboratory facilities using modern analytical techniques to investigate the quality of crops in terms of theirs nutritional and chemical quality. We measure dry matter content, sugars, carbohydrates, phenolic compounds, cannabinoids, terpenes, amino acids, fatty acids, protein content, vitamins, etc. Our laboratory is equipped with advanced analytical devices including:
- High-performance liquid chromatography device
- Gas chromatography device
- Gas chromatography–Mass spectromety
- Spectrophotometer
- Near Infrared Spectroscopy device
- Photometers etc….
